BT Redcare Closure – Have You Acted Yet?

The closure of BT Redcare’s alarm signalling service – set for 1 August 2025 – is fast approaching. If your business insurance relies on Redcare for monitored intruder or fire alarms, time is running out to make the necessary changes and stay compliant.

At Wilsons, we published an article a year ago, urging businesses to prepare well in advance. We warned that as the deadline nears, capacity among alternative monitoring providers will tighten, and delays could mean exposure to uninsured risks.

Unfortunately, that prediction is proving true. Suppliers are now reporting rising demand, and we’re already seeing longer lead times for new installations.

Why this matters

Many insurers require a specific type or level of alarm monitoring to remain on cover – and in some cases, Redcare is named directly in the policy. If your monitoring no longer meets those requirements, you could find:

  • Your cover is invalidated

  • Claims are refused following a loss

  • You’re left underinsured or without protection during the switch

  • Premiums increase due to non-compliance

What should you do?

Review your insurance policy – look for any conditions relating to alarm signalling or Redcare specifically

Speak to your broker – they can clarify your obligations and liaise with your insurer

Act now – don’t leave it until the last minute when availability is tight and installation times are pushed back

We’re continuing to support clients in navigating this change. If you’re unsure what this means for your business, or you haven’t yet made a plan to replace Redcare, please don’t delay.

Act today to make sure you stay protected and compliant!
